Glass art
You know them? Those beautiful glass panels in British pubs and American stores, richly decorated with gold, silver and mother of pearl. From the early 19th century onwards, this type of panels were produced to make luxury advertisements for liquor, tobacco, or chocolate. The graceful graphics were like fairytales on glass and let the viewer drift off into a fantasy world.
Are these glass artworks still made? Yes they are. But is there a glass artist in The Netherlands who can do it? Until recently the answer was "no", because the necessary crafts were almost forgotten. For a unique glass artwork you had to go outside Europe.
