Acid etching glass

Acid etching glass is a surface treatment in which glass is etched with different hydrofloric acid solutions and mixtures. A chemical reaction will happen in which the surface will partly dissolve. In fact you could call it a form of controlled corrosion.
The ability to etch glass with acid was accidentally discovered in 1670 in Germany. The art of glass etching then reached its peak in the nineteenth and twentieth century. The technique is also known under the names French embossing glass, glass embosing, aciding glass and white acid etching glass. Unfortunately, the technique of glass etching is almost forgotten, but Schitterend brings it back to you! Schitterend is specialized in acid etching glass in different tones for fine art, partitions, doors, windows and replicating broken windows.
