12-09-2016 Acid etching an Art Deco design in glass

A customer had a broken original acid etching Art Deco design in glass. He asked me if i could reproduce the design onto a new piece of glass. Ofcourse no problem.

Normally this work of reproducing broken pieces of acid etched glass is insurance work, but this client saved up to give me the order. A lot of hours went into puzzling the broken pieces together and reproducing the design in protective paint for the first white acid bath. Acid etching an Art Deco design in glass like this takes two acid baths. The second is to tone down the white tone into a more transparant tone. After a few days work the glass was perfectly reproduced and the client could enjoy his Art Deco interior again in its original glory.
